Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my Cube quite a bit. When I was car shopping though, the dealership that I was buying from had a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! available. That exact one. Ok so I know I made a good choice in terms of reselling down the road. That CRZ is still there 4 months later. But I keep seeing these little Hondas on the road and have been using one in Gran Turismo. So I'm seeing them a lot. And that's making me second guess my choice. Would the CRZ have been a better choice? My Cube gets great MPGs and has plenty of aftermarket and OEM accessories but it's soooooo slow. Now I know the CRZ isn't a speed demon but it's lighter and more powerful, lower to the ground and FAR more aerodynamic than the Cube. I bet it would've been much more fun to toss around once in a while. Sigh. Should of, could of, would of. Maybe in a couple years. And maybe by then I'll be able to get a new one.

I literally JUST entered this phase.
I wish I bought a base Fiesta, because I'd be turning it slowly into a rally car by now.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 20:50 |

I'm in this phase, but only because my Elantra is a pile of crap.

What you think you see when you see the CRZ:
What it actually is:
What you think the cube is when you get in it:
What the Nissan Cube Actually is:
That should answer all of your questions. The Cube is an honest car. It's not sporty ,but it's quirky, pretty fun. It stands out. The CRZ is a flashy car that really isn't a sports car. The CRX was unique because it was efficient, both speed and price/weight wise. T he CRZ is unique becauase it is inefficient. It lacks the capability to be a real sports car, but also lacks the practicality of a good hatch. You'd stand out, and you'd be lower to the ground, but instead of trading practicality for "speed" you'd be trading practicality for the "appearance of speed". yeah, it's faster than the Cube, but also exponentially less easy to live with, without being more unique .
The way to do it is to trade for something equally practical but with a better suspension at the expense of looking less unique. In other words...
Early Honda Fits, which aren't as unique as a cube, but serve your needs for being fun to toss around. These were actually quite stiff and sporty.

Just turn the ST into one

DON'T TEMPT ME
Apparently Rally America makes it hard (or just doesn't allow it at all, I don't know) for beginners to start with a turbo'd car.

I COULD (and totally would) DD A RALLY CAR
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:11 |

Wasn't a big thing about the cube that it was practical and could carry all your stuff? The CRZ can't do that, which is likely why you ruled it out...

I'm going to sound like a dick, but know that I don't mean it and I love all teh Opponauts.
Dude.
Bruh.
You're under 20 and you have a brand new car.
And you have money to modify it.
And it starts every day.
And it's funky.
Just appreciate it.

I would say no to the Fit, just because he probably wants a manual and the clutch in these are shite.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:25 |
|
Ah, didn't know about that. Still, do they make aftermarket clutch kits for the early Fits? I know they do for the later ones, particularly Mugen.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:26 |
|
Yep, literally the most vague thing I've ever used. But yeah, probably. And Mr Regular likes his. I'd just hate to be a new manual driver and have to use that every day.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:29 |

Well you could've had a base 1.0l that you always recommend. And with the money saved, uh, I don't know, rally prep it....
Yeah, totally could've been you.

Utility is one of my top priorities for choosing vehicles, and the crz has almost none.

Today I went to the local autoshow and thought. Man, here comes the buyers remorse. But nope! not even with the new Mustang or the Sporty 500s.

I want to say that I could, but it would get really annoying.

Yea, nothing major yet. 17 inch wheels, OEM aero front lip (sideskirts will be bought...soon), rainguards and some interior trim pieces.

Haha, Who knows? Maybe you won't like it much.
I'm totally putting letters on the back bumper of my A4 saying "Bite my shiny metal ass." If I get to rallycrossing it. It's silver, so it'll work.

Clearly the solution is to take the motor out and drop in a sealed 2.0 engine out of a Ford Ford race car, or a souped up 2.5l.
It seems there isn't many options for N/A Ford/Mazda 4-cylinders. Ford Racing doesn't even offer the Formula Ford crate motor anymore.
Someone should make 250HP 10000rpm versions of the 2.0 or 2.5l Duratech/MZR motors.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:44 |

I was going to say it looks pprrreeety nice.
I'm constantly going in and out of buyers remorse. So I'd just keep it through that phase and decide what to do on the ass end of the remorse.

You'd have tons of money if you sold the FiST...
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:45 |

I sat in a Honda Fit. A couple actually. They're ok but I liked the Cube as a place to be much more. And I guess I never drove the CRZ to know just how underperforming it is.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:45 |

By the time I sell my car, it'll have like 200 hp worth of stickers on it.

![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:47 |

Oh I love the Cube and having an almost new car and such but there's this little part of me that wants nothing but speed. And that's the only thing that the Cube doesn't offer. Hence why I've been on the 2nd car/1st sports car kick lately.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:48 |

1. 100 sets of tires.
2. So many stone chips the car isn't even silver anymore.
3. Brown seats, not from mud.
4. Broken everything.
5. Broken things you didn't know could be broken.
That's what your car will probably go through by the time you decide to sell it.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:49 |

I don't feel like taking many depreciation hit
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:49 |

I'll more than likely end up keeping it, overhauling the suspension and going to some autocrosses next year.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:50 |

It's worth. More now than it will be for a very long time
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:50 |

Probably a good idea to do something about the suspension. I can smell the body roll from here.
Is there a chip/Nismo crap for it?
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:51 |

If you want speed or a sports car, there's no way in hell a CRZ will give it to you. It's an overweight hybrid wannabe CRX.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:51 |
|
Dunno, haven't driven it.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:55 |

I plan to sell it after 3 years of ownership. By then it'll be to hell and back.
It will see 3 seasons of Autocross (I'd say about 50 events)
An unknown amount of rallycross
3 SEASONS OF FUCKING ICE RACING (about 10 events per season)
Jesus christ.
That poor second owner.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 21:55 |

Other than tacky plastic add-ons? No. Stillen makes a muffler and I've got a K&N intake but otherwise performance parts are scarce. If I got that muffler though I wouldn't be able to live my dreams of having a zokusha Cube, so the stock muffler will stay.

Try and dump it with Carmax.
![]() 10/05/2014 at 22:06 |

I've heard nothing but underwhelming performance reviews about the CR-Z, the more extreme Mugen varients excluded. It was mostly that they underpowered it while making it much heavier than it needed to be. Enough that an Accord V6 coupe was a better sports car in the end.

huehuehue
![]() 10/05/2014 at 23:58 |

Don't be reductive. No, it's not a sports car, but it is a nimble little thing, and it will be a lot more fun than the Cube.
![]() 10/06/2014 at 11:38 |

Did you get your transmission swapped?
![]() 10/06/2014 at 14:57 |

I sure did! Somehow it is worse now. I'm meeting with someone from corporate tomorrow.
![]() 10/06/2014 at 15:04 |

Did a little post snooping, damn sorry to hear about all the issues you're still having. Let us know what happens with Corp.
At first when I read about it being more sluggish I thought maybe they needed to reset the TCU or make some ECU change but after reading about the burning smell and grinding still makes me believe the issue is way bigger.
![]() 10/06/2014 at 15:07 |

Yep. I think that the meeting tomorrow will decide if they buy it back.
![]() 10/10/2014 at 11:06 |

Genuinely curious as to what happened with this, are you going to make an Oppo post about it? Not trying to be nosey!
![]() 10/10/2014 at 12:24 |

they are now going to be sending an engineer to come look at it in a few weeks, to determine if they can fix it. Once everything is done, I will write a post about it, but right now am being cautious, just incase hy*ndai is monitoring this website.

Makes sense, still a complete shit show.
